Initiatives
The Meadowbrook High Collaborative, Chesterfield Virginia
This collaborative effort is a joint venture between Communities in Schools Chesterfield and Chesterfield County Public Schools and was the first long-term school based development effort initiated by one of our partners. A group of eight youth completed their first listening project in the spring of 2019 and formed action teams in the fall based on what they learned. This group is working together to strengthen Meadowbrook High school as well as developing a model that can be replicated by other High School CIS coordinators.
Embrace Chesterfield EDU
In the Fall of 2019, Embrace Communities trained all site coordinators from Communities in Schools of Chesterfield, Chesterfield County Public School Family and Student Engagement team and Chesterfield County government leaders from Department of Social Services, Community Enhancement Department, Community Information and Resources and Mental Health Prevention Services. The goal of this collaborative is to link development efforts that originate in Chesterfield County schools to neighborhood level efforts being supported by Chesterfield County government.
