Coastal Bend Neighborhood Empowerment (CBNE) has been a training and coaching client of Embrace Communities since 2017 and is a founding member of the Empowered Communities Network. They are passionate community builders who are dedicated to creating sustainable, systemic change in the Coastal Bend region of Texas. CBNE works with communities and neighborhoods, and has conducted trainings, seminars, and other events with area nonprofits, churches, and other organizations interested in the power shift that ABCD represents. 2023 Update:
Bruce Wilson of Coastal Bend Neighborhood Empowerment continued to nurture relationships with the peer advocates from the Homeless Helping Homeless group that he helped to catalyze during Covid. Bruce has supported this group of houseless individuals ensuring that their voices are being centered by institutional partners in a city-wide taskforce on homelessness.

"Homeless Helping Homeless" Community, Corpus Christi, Texas
This collaborative effort has been a join venture between CBNE, the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital, Mental Health Intellectual Disabilities, and the City of Corpus Christi. These teams are engaged in continual Listening Projects to develop a safe, supportive homeless community which is self-governing, organized around their own priorities, and is able to represent itself to local providers and city government as an asset to the larger Corpus Christi community.
West Side Collaborative, Corpus Christi, Texas
This collaborative effort is a joint venture between Coastal Bend Neighborhood Improvement, Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Church and residents of the West Side Neighborhood. This team is currently engaged in a listening project. This project is supported in part by the West Texas Episcopal Diocese, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital, Methodist Health Care Ministries, Crossbridge Fellowship Church, and STCH (South Texas Children’s Home) Ministries.
