The Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church hosted one Power Shift Learning Cohorts in 2024 with additional learning cohorts and an implementation focused Community of Practice launching in 2025. The conference is seeking to equip local pastors who are seeking to strengthen their communities from the inside out utilizing CommUnity Powered Framework.

Embrace Centers for Community

Embrace Centers for Community is seeking to establish health-focused community hubs in under utilized United Methodist Churches in the western part of Virginia. The first such hub is up and running in Waynesboro, VA with the second site under development in Covington, VA.

Family Connections

Family Connection sites are supported by the West Central Health District across more than a dozen counties is west central Georgia. The community based health and wellness organizations seek to strengthen local communities by responding to local concerns ranging from literacy to food, to access to health.

Callie Walker

Callie Walker is an United Methodist pastor, community organizer, and founding member of Central Virginia Agrarian Commons. Her and her husband donated 85 acres of Amelia County farm land in support of Black farmers, and in recognition of the plantation history that the land had endured.

The Association for Regenerative Culture and Embrace Communities are partnering to develop a collaborative curriculum that brings together Asset-based Community Development principles and practices with Regenerative Culture practices such as permaculture.
